Luc Besson is the director that always brings something interesting. It must be a European thing. If his name doesn’t sound a bell (which I doubt), keep in mind the cult traditional “The fifth Element”. It’s the exact same director.
“Valerian as well as the city of a thousand planets” is based on the French comic book “Valerian as well as Laureline”.
The action takes location in a captivating world, with spectacular visuals as well as a fantastic range of aliens. It’s interesting to see the opening credit histories that dive into this original universe, with countless species. I got a mad Max as well as Guardians of the Galaxy vibes, particularly in the beginning. The drawback is that the story is not that strong. It’s really quite generic.
And I believe that there’s not that much chemistry between the primary characters. They are fine, however not sufficient to increase as much as the expectations that the very first part of the movie develop for you. That’s as well bad, since I was so excited for their interaction. I was expecting a type of Chris Pratt-type of lovable characters. however they autumn type of flat. It bothers me when I see the actors trying as well as missing the mark that close.
On the other hand, the actions sequences as well as the alien characters truly deserve to be experienced on a big, 3d screen, which redeem the whole movie. So, theatrically, it is an interesting sci-fi experience that offers originality.
It’s definitely not a poor movie, however it will have mixed evaluations since of the high expectations around it, just like all things based on comic books.
To celebrate the outstanding Luc Besson original vision, I gathered a few tee shirts featuring the characters of the movie.
